Since 1991, HKKF has supported conferences held in Hong Kong, including sponsoring overseas experts as visiting Professors to Hong Kong. In conjunction with other organizations such as Hong Kong Society of Nephrology and Hospital Authority, HKKF has organised Renal Nursing Course for the nursing professional.
Since 1995, HKKF has awarded scholarships to medical and nursing professionals to gain overseas experience and expertise in the management of renal disease.
HKKF is also a member of International Federation of Kidney Foundation.
HKKF has organised exhibitions and public lectures on kidney disease.
HKKF has held Hong Kong Kidney Day in 2001 and 2004.
HKKF joined in with the World Kidney Day activities organized by International Federation of Kidney Foudnation and International Society of Nephrology (World Kidney Day @ Hong Kong) every year since 2006.
HKKF has organised outdoor activities, such as picnics for the patients and family members. Patients and staff of the dialysis centres also participated in various rehabilitation and sports activities.
Being a charitable organization, HKKF has to raise approximately $2m per year to subsidise the various charity programs. This was made possible by generous donation from the public and the renal communities including renal staff, patients and pharmaceutical companies with activities such as flag day, annual dinners.
